Sofia Bento

Sofia uses her extensive experience in teaching, research, and university administration to mentor students and help them craft outstanding applications for a wide range of colleges and academic interests.

As a writing instructor at the University of Michigan, Sofia spotlighted writing as a way to communicate ideas across disciplines, and an effective tool of self-expression, persuasion, and academic exploration. She enjoys the collaborative editing process and helping students come into their own writing styles. 

Sofia has served on multiple admissions committees and uses her admissions expertise to help students effectively plan and frame their academic trajectory. Her experience with admissions greatly informs how she advises students and their families on how to maximize each student’s intellectual pursuits and personal fulfillment through smart school selection.

Having successfully been through rigorous auditions for Berklee College of Music and presented her research at several academic conferences, Sofia is also keen to work with students on their interview skills, and guide students on how to confidently present themselves and their story to admissions committees.

In her free time, Sofia can be found playing piano, watching live comedy, or walking dogs at her local animal shelter.
