Michelle: Let My MBA Application Journey Begin!

May 15, 2013 :: Admissionado Team

Blogger MichelleThere are so many things that I’ve considered writing about for this first blog post – a sign of the million things currently happening in my life, I suppose – but I’m thinking it’s probably going to be best to just introduce myself.

From my questionnaire, you already know a bit about me. Coming from the social sector, I’m what they call a “non-traditional” applicant. Although, I still haven’t decided quite how I feel about that term and whether it’s going to be a strength or a weakness during the application process. In any case, education’s my thing. I’ve been working for an education organization for the past few years, and I plan to stay in the industry long-term. I’m seeking an MBA to jumpstart the next stage of my career and to gain the key skills to make some big, innovative moves in the field and to drive student achievement.

Because of all of that, I was super pumped this week when I found out that I would be working with Mark Lellouch at Admissionado. I spent time stalking…erm… researching Mark online the moment I found out that we were paired. Mark has an awesome background – Stanford GSB and a bunch of do-gooder work – totally in line with my goals. During our first chat, Mark and I discussed my Action Plan and are working to continue to define my story. It’s a very introspective process that forces you to think not only about what you’ve done, but how you did it, and the impact and significance of each action.

Along with that, I also still need to focus on work (where I was recently promoted), researching schools, preparing for Round 1 applications, studying to retake the GMAT (this will surely be the topic of at least one other post since its currently dominating my life), and attempting to have a social life.

The key takeaway?

The next 6 months are going to be a whirlwind.

Michelle will be blogging about her application whirlwind from start to acceptance. Follow her journey (and Mark’s advice) right here.
