Anna Li

Anna has gone through the college process twice – first as a high school senior, then as a transfer student from Northwestern University – and now, as a UChicago alumna and Admissionado Mentor, she’s excited to pass on her wisdom to others. She firmly believes that everyone’s story is important and powerful. She mentors with genuine care for her students and aims to cultivate introspection and confidence that shine on the page and in real life.

After having internships in law and professional services, Anna decided to pursue her dream of becoming a chef. She spent her last year of undergrad working as a pastry cook while writing her sociology BA thesis on Chinese cuisine and discursive cultural legitimation. She currently leads a pop-up restaurant with her co-chef best friend, and even though she’s traded her pens and notebooks for knives and aprons, she wouldn’t give up her liberal arts education for the world. Anna is a huge proponent of following your heart and strives to empower others to be their boldest, bravest selves.

Outside of chef-ing and mentoring, Anna spends her time marathon training, reading social theory, collecting (read: hoarding) cookbooks, playing with her roommate’s cat, and doing her best one day at a time.
