A California native, Michelle just returned to the US after spending five years in the UK. She received her BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford and a MSc in Conflict Studies from the London School of Economics, graduating from both with top marks. She now works for a DC-based international development INGO, managing democracy, human rights, and governance programming in Southeast Asia. Prior to that, her seven internships took her around the world, from Myanmar with the U.S. State Department, to Jordan with the United Nations. She’s deeply passionate about finding solutions to complex global challenges, particularly those posed by conflict, migration, and climate change.
Her passion for problem-solving extends to her love for mentorship. From volunteering in Calais refugee camps, to coaching an award-winning speech and debate team, Michelle believes in empowering people to unlock their full potential. She encourages students to dream as big as they can, even if it means stepping off the beaten track, and works with them to make those dreams a reality.
In another lifetime, Michelle would have been in the arts. She used to work as an editor/marketing director for a literary magazine and interned with Penguin Random House. Using her knack for storytelling, she works with students to weave their life stories into a cohesive narrative that stands apart from the crowd.
