MIT

The cutting edge in tech and a long tradition in American history. When it comes to producing the finest scientists and mathematicians in the world, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is the undisputed champ. Add a great arts culture and short train ride to Boston, and the result is one of the world’s most desirable colleges.

Features

Freedom To Choose Classes

MIT undergrads have the option to take classes at other top institutions across Boston, including Harvard, Wellesley, and the Museum of Fine Arts.

Pass / No Pass

MIT knows the workload isn’t easy and wants to help students get a good handle on balance before adding the pressure of grades on top of everything else. During the first semester of freshman year, students don’t receive a letter grade for any courses.

Research

MIT is all about the research. In fact, there are so many different types of research opportunities on campus, spanning a whole host of departments, that it is possible for students to do research for all four years of their undergraduate career.

Distinguished Professors

MIT is overflowing with Nobel laureates—78 total including 21 alumni, five emeritus faculty, and eight current faculty. Then there are the 21 MacArthur Genius Grant fellows and four Pulitzer Prize winners. Talk about brain power.
