John Hopkins University

The definitive research university, Johns Hopkins is one of the most cited scientific institutions in the world. An agent for social change from its beginning, the university was at the forefront of the civil rights movement and remains committed to social justice. For the aspiring world-changer or budding scientific genius, Johns Hopkins is the place to be.

Whiting School of Engineering

The Whiting School is home to nearly 30 research centers and institutes, and provides plenty of opportunities for student research through the WSE Student Initiatives Fund, Summer Internships, and the highly coveted Vredenburg Scholarship. Chemical Engineering is one of the most popular majors at Johns Hopkins—we can see why. Where else can you have an undergraduate concentration in Aerospace Engineering? Not that many places, that’s for sure.

Specialized Majors

In addition to 50 majors and 41 minors offered in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and the Whiting School of Engineering, three other schools at Johns Hopkins offer specialized majors for students with even more specific interests. Students can major in business at the Carey Business School; choose from three music majors at the Peabody Institute; and study nursing at the School of Nursing. That’s a lot of options.

The Johns Hopkins Center for Social Concern (CSC) is home to more than 55 student-run groups dedicated to providing service to the community and the world. Best Buddies mentor intellectually challenged youth. Project Prevent designs and implements community health fairs. Engineers Without Borders pairs undergrads with professional engineers to go on service trips to improve the lives of others worldwide. No matter your interest, there are tons of ways to get involved at Johns Hopkins.
