University of Virginia (Darden) Essay Analysis 2019-2020

The University of Virginia-Darden is back this season with a slightly tweaked lineup of essays.

They’ve changed the order and added a couple of lines of preamble here and there, but the only entirely new essay is number two, a diversity statement.

With their short word count targets and traditional topic choices, Darden’s essays can appear deceptively simple. It’s far from the hardest application, but there’s still plenty of room for confusion, particularly in response to the first prompt’s open-ended request for an example of “impact.” Here’s our take:
