The University of Chicago (Booth) Essay Analysis 2019-2020

Booth used to be a very interesting application. This adcom was an early proponent of “picture essays” and PowerPoint presentations–but all that came to a screeching halt last year.

The adcom replaced their open-ended submissions with two traditional MBA essays, and they haven’t reversed that decisions this year. The application is essentially the same as last year: a “goals” essay and a “past influences” essay, both without a maximum word limit. These essays are not nearly as unique as the picture essays, but navigating that unlimited length is still plenty challenging! Let’s dig in:
