NEWS FLASH: HBS Broke Their Record for Enrolling Women

June 10, 2013 :: Admissionado Team

rosie the riveter posterIt’s a good day for women in business, and we are psyched to pass along the excellent news.

This year, according to Bloomberg Businessweek, HBS broke their record for enrolling women to their MBA class for 2013. 41% of Harvard Business School’s incoming class this fall will be made up of women. WOO! This is especially awesome considering HBS has only been admitting women to their program for the past 51 YEARS. (Because, you know, 51 years ago in this country we sure had some different gender stereotypes than we have today.) While that number is still not quite 50/50, it’s courageously making its way there. In 2003 it was 35%. Last year it was 40%. So slowly but surely, we’re making it happen, folks.

Wharton still beat out Harvard this year, though, with women making up 42% of their 2013 class. But we’re confident that HBS is gonna catch up. In fact, the ladies of Admissionado would be willing to bet our rolling pins and bobby pins and all other kinds of pins that female admission at business schools is only gonna increase in the near future.

We here at Admissionado work with a LOT of women on their MBA applications, so this is really exciting for us to see. Especially since we’ve heard so much great news from so many women we’ve worked with this year about your MBA acceptances.

Keep up the good work, ladies! (And gents, too, who are supporting your female comrades in business.)
