Essay Analysis: Michigan Ross School of Business 2018-19

Ross has traditionally had a fairly straightforward application. This year is no exception.
Part 1 is still a list of short answers, this time with fewer prompt choices. However, “Part 2” of the application has been tweaked in a more substantial way: Ross has eliminated the “what skills/strengths do you have that will be relevant to your career goals?” part of the question and instead focused on the applicant’s background.
The new phrasing has the potential to make an otherwise simple goals essay much more interesting. With less focus on applicants’ credentials and Ross’s programming, we expect this year’s essays to feel rawer and more personal. Ross is asking you to stand up and stand out from the herd.
