In June 2016, Chad Losee, Harvard MBA Class of 2013, will step into Dee Leopold’s shoes as Managing Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at Harvard Business School.
Leopold, who we can all thank for making the admissions process at HBS more transparent and leading the way in reducing the number of essays required of candidates applying to top schools, worked for 10 years in this position, reading over 360,000 applications and and enrolling 32,000 MBA students. She also created the 2+2 admissions program, a deferred admissions program that attracts talented undergraduates and those in full-time master’s programs. Leopold will remain at HBS as the Program Director of 2+2.
Leopold’s replacement, Losee, graduated from HBS as a Baker Scholar (top 5% of students) and worked as a Fellow in the Dean’s Office the year after graduation. As a Fellow, he was involved in several initiatives, including the exam and credential strategy for CORe (Credential of Readiness), which teaches aspiring managers accounting, business analytics, and economics. Prior to enrolling at HBS, he graduated from Brigham Young University’s Honors Program with a bachelor’s degree in International Relations in 2008 and went on to work for Bain and Company as a Consultant until 2011, where he returned post-MBA.
“My goal as Dee’s successor is to make sure that each diverse MBA class continues to have a transformative experience at HBS and go on to make a real difference in the world,” said Losee in an interview with HBS Newsroom. He became interested in admissions after serving as an Admissions Ambassador for his HBS section, showing visiting students around on campus tours, and as an observer on the HBS Admissions Board, where he interviewed prospective students during the admissions process.
“He has a deep understanding of HBS and its pedagogy and mission; superb interpersonal, analytical, and strategic skills; and a passion for admissions,” said Jana Pompadur Kierstead, Executive Director of the MBA Program. “That combination of talent and experience positions him well to lead our Admissions and Financial Aid teams.”
