Essay Analysis: University of Pennsylvania 2018-19

“How will you explore your intellectual and academic interests at the University of Pennsylvania? Please answer this question given the specific undergraduate school to which you are applying.”

Let’s focus in on that word “explore.” Who were the famous “explorers” back in the day? Guys like Magellan, Columbus, etc. What did they have in common in terms of their “interests?” What about space explorers, or undersea explorers? They’re always fascinated by the “stuff they don’t know… and want to know more about.” Right?

It’s all about what you don’t know, and surprises, the unexpected, changes in tack and disappointments. All of them together.

So, what are you hoping to EXPERIENCE?
