Wall Street. Nobel Prize winners. Manhattan. There are lots of things that make Columbia stand out to MBA applicants all over the world. So, how do you become part of that 15% of applicants admitted? Apply soon. VERY soon.
Bold statement, eh? Well, there a reason for it. CBS has rolling admissions. Instead of waiting for all of the apps to come in by the deadline, they review them as they come in and make their decisions accordingly. Every day. Which means that with every passing day, more spots have already been filled. To have a serious, fighting chance, you really can’t wait for Round 2 at CBS. Well, you can (and many people do), but to increase your chances and give you a better opportunity of nabbing a spot, you don’t want to wait.
We know a guy. He applied Round 2 and got into HBS, Stanford, Wharton, Booth, Kellogg, and a few other top schools. You know where he didn’t get in? CBS. He eventually spoke with the adcom and they told him that he had a strong profile and he was a great candidate, but he just got in there too late. There were too many people just like him already admitted.
So, yeah, applying early is key here. And if you’re an International applicant, this is even MORE important. There are only so many spots for international guys in every program, so you gotta get in there while they’re still available.
Bottom line: If you’re serious about CBS, you HAVE to apply by the Early Decision deadline, October 3, 2012. That’s it. Done and done. Do it up. Right now.
And now that that’s decided, let’s get to work on those essays, eh?
