University of Michigan

The University of Michigan is big… in every way. A Big Ten school with a huge campus, massive budget, gigantic alumni network, long legacy, and larger-than-life sports. Not to mention big accomplishments (the Peace Corps started on-campus). Come on, President Gerald Ford and rocker Iggy Pop both came out of U Mich. This school provides the definitive “college experience.”

Features

Bachelor of Business Administration at Ross

Students who want to get an early start on their business careers will be ecstatic to know that Ross, one of the top business schools in the country, offers an undergraduate Bachelor of Business Administration program. The program was ranked #1 in general business and finance in a 2010 poll in the Wall Street Journal. BBA students won’t miss a liberal arts education, though—they still take lots of courses in a variety of subjects at the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts.

Theme Semester

Every semester, U Michigan decides on a theme or a question that the entire university explores together through lectures and events. Past themes have included “Water,” “What Makes Life Worth Living,” and “100 Years Beyond Einstein.” The theme has a unique way of bringing the large university together.

Economics

Economics is one of the most popular majors at U Michigan, and the department is always growing. The Michigan Institute for Teaching and Research in Economics officially opened in September 2012 with an anonymous $5M donation to support the economics department for five years. It’s a good time to be an econ student at U Michigan.

Ann Arbor

Ann Arbor has time and time again been voted one of the best college towns in the country. With one of the most successful and beloved football teams in college athletic history (Go Wolverines!), it’s hard not to feel a strong sense of community. The streets are lined with trees, the city is very walkable, there’s a solid block of restaurants and art galleries downtown, and Ann Arbor is a great hub for arts and theater in Michigan.
