Ali is a superstar at working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, having lived and worked across three continents.
Originally from Pakistan, Ali got his undergraduate in computer science because he wanted to develop games… at least until he realized they were more fun to play than create. Switching to a career in finance because of his fascination with money and natural affinity for numbers, he has over 12 years of consulting and industry experience in the Middle East, South Asia, and Europe in oil and gas, power, infrastructure (seaports, industrial zones) and financial services sectors. That makes him a tremendous all-rounder able to connect the dots across countless disciplines, whether on the field or coming up with a fresh new angle for your application.
Ali has been involved in various strategy projects in new markets development, digitalization, and M&A across various geographies. He also has extensive project finance experience, especially in power & infrastructure sectors, and holds an MBA from INSEAD in addition to being a Chartered Financial Analyst. So, you know, nothing too heavy.
When he’s not mastering another business domain, Ali is passionate about reading and particularly enjoys literature and history with special fondness for Russian literature and economic history. He is also a film aficionado and enjoys movies from across the world with his favorite genre being film noir. He loves anything directed by Martin Scorsese, Akira Kurosawa and Quentin Tarantino.
He also loves learning about different cultures and languages. Ali is fluent in English and his native Urdu and has basic proficiency in French, German and Arabic
