As one of California’s oldest universities, the University of Southern California holds “iconic” status. It’s the image that comes to mind when we think of a traditional university, like the ones we see in the movies… because this IS the one that we all see in the movies. Combine a world-class research institution with a vibrant and highly active student culture, and you’ve got one of the best private universities in the nation.

Broad Variety

If you’re unsure about your major, USC has a few options. USC offers 162 different courses of study for undergrads, and as of fall 2011, 380 masters, certificate, doctoral and professional degree programs were being pursued by graduate level students. Even more impressive—USC has developed a whopping 155 academic and professional minors—the widest number of minors of any school in the country.

Scholars Program

USC is committed to academic excellence on campus and beyond, and has created several scholars programs to support student research projects and social initiatives: the Global Scholars program, the Discovery Scholars program, and the USC Dornsife Scholars program, just to name a few.

School of Cinematic Arts

USC is home to the highly regarded School of Cinematic Arts. You might recognize the names of some of their graduates, unless you’ve been living under a rock: Judd Apatow and George Lucas both went here. Some of our favorite films have even been shot on campus, including The Graduate, Legally Blonde, and Forrest Gump.
