We've compiled answers to the most sought-after college admissions and parenting questions from our community.

We talk to a lot of parents. And they have a lot of questions.
In person. Via email. Over the phone. Online. Regardless of the medium, we love answering them, because more often than not, we’re able to provide insight that is either more helpful than other advice they’re receiving elsewhere, or more successful at reducing their anxiety. Those two usually go hand-in-hand, by the way.
We have compiled a few of our favorite Qs into a guide, along with some of the more common ones including:
- What exactly does it take to get into an Ivy League/top college?
- What are the most common mistakes on college admission essays?
- Which topics should be avoided in college application essays?
- Which colleges should my daughter apply to?
- How do I help relieve the stress caused by the college admission process for my 17-year-old daughter who is an overachiever and strong minded?
- My child is near the end of Junior year in high school. How can I make the best of the approximately one year of time remaining for my child before they head off to college?
- What do college admissions officers think when they see that a student had a significant drop in grades for one quarter?
- Do students with 3.5 GPAs get into elite schools like Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Wharton etc.?
Some questions may relate to you or your student’s situation directly, some may not. In either case, we hope this collection of questions and answers reveals the extent to which you are not alone, and that no matter how stressful the college application process may appear, there is almost always an intelligent way to overcome it.
And as always, if you’re dying for an answer to a question we’ve glossed over in this guide, ask it in the comments below, Tweet it at us, send us a message on Facebook, or simply shoot us an email. We’re here to help however we can.
