Meet our MBA Consultants: Phillip Herring

October 13, 2014 :: Admissionado Team

Each week, we sit down and get to know one of our MBA Consultants.

Phillip Herring MBA ConsultantNot to brag, but we have an amazing team of people, and there’s more to them than just their top school pedigree or their devilish good looks. When you’re choosing an MBA consultant, you don’t just want someone in your industry or who went to your dream school. You need an MBA consultant who will be able to work with you, connect with you, and push you to be your best… and that’s not the same person for everyone. Some people need an empathetic touch; others need a drill sergeant. That’s why we think it’s so important for you to get to know our guys before you get to work.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Admissionado MBA Consultant Phillip Herring.

So Phillip, where are you living these days?
New York City

And your MBA is from…
Columbia Business School

Why did you go for an MBA?
My reasons for attaining an MBA were to increase my overall business acumen and utilize Columbia’s alumni network. My experience at Columbia Business School was a great success and not only did I learn new skill sets to help me achieve my short and long-term goals, but I also formed meaningful friendships that will last forever.

What’s your all-time favorite memory from business school?
My favorite memory from business school was my trip to Japan with friends from my cluster. I enjoyed learning about Japanese culture and cuisine and discovering that my quest to eat sushi everyday was the same as someone visiting the U.S. and wanting to eat a hamburger and French fries everyday….you just don’t do it…lol.

What do you like most about being an MBA consultant?
Getting to know my clients on a very personal level to better enable me to help them realize their dreams of attending some of the world’s best business schools, which ultimately helps them attain their short and long-term professional goals.

What’s the COOLEST place you’ve ever been?
G-Land, Indonesia is by far the coolest place I have visited during my travels as a surfer. G-Land is an isolated surf break on the eastern tip of Java surrounded by lush green jungle and crystal blue ocean. The wave is a very long, world-class, barreling left hand reef/point break that breaks along the east side of Grajagan Bay. It has long been considered one of the world’s best left hand waves. I have experienced surfing some of the greatest waves of my life at G-Land and met many interesting and wonderful people from all over the world there.
