Meet Our MBA Consultants: Moah Son

October 17, 2014 :: Admissionado Team

Each week, we sit down and get to know one of our MBA Consultants.

MBA Consultant Moah SonNot to brag, but we have an amazing team of people, and there’s more to them than just their top school pedigree or their devilish good looks. When you’re choosing an MBA consultant, you don’t just want someone in your industry or who went to your dream school. You need an MBA consultant who will be able to work with you, connect with you, and push you to be your best… and that’s not the same person for everyone. Some people need an empathetic touch; others need a drill sergeant. That’s why we think it’s so important for you to get to know our guys before you get to work.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Admissionado MBA Consultant Moah Son.

So Moah, where are you living these days?
New York City

And your MBA is from…
Wharton

Why did you go for an MBA?
I pursued an MBA because I wanted a career change. While it didn’t get me into the career I wanted right away, it provided me with an incredible network and plenty of opportunities to learn about leadership and get outside of my comfort zone. Those things helped me eventually get into the role and industry I wanted because business school turned me into a fearless networking machine.

What’s your all-time favorite memory from business school?
My favorite thing about business school is the amazing friendships I developed. At no other point in your life will you be surrounded by so many smart, ambitious and talented people who share similar interests and goals. Because my classmates were so amazing, it really motivated me to work harder and get to the next level. MBAs also know how to have fun, and I can tell you that Wharton parties are famously epic!

What do you like most about being an MBA consultant?
The admissions process can be stressful, emotional and often, painful. I know what it feels like to have all your hopes and dreams riding on that admit. When I received my acceptance call, I felt like I had won the academic lottery. What I like most about admissions consulting is giving my clients the same moment when they find out that all their hard work has paid off. I get so excited for them because it’s an unbelievable feeling!

What’s the COOLEST place you’ve ever been?
Antarctica. That’s right, Antarctica. I did this as part of the Wharton Leadership Ventures during business school. It provided a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel to a place most people don’t get to see in a way that is only available to Wharton students – trekking and camping vs. stepping off a cruise ship. Trekking across a glacier alongside chin-strap penguins was a pretty awesome experience!

What’s your biggest weakness?
Coffee. If I don’t have it first thing in the morning I get migraines and feel nauseous. I’m terribly addicted!
