Meet our MBA Admissions Consultants: Stefanie Barlow

Stephanie Barlow

Each week, we sit down and get to know one of our MBA Admissions Consultants.

Not to brag, but we have an amazing team of people, and there’s more to them than just their top school pedigree or their devilish good looks. When you’re choosing an MBA Admissions consultant, you don’t just want someone in your industry or who went to your dream school. You need an MBA Admissions consultant who will be able to work with you, connect with you, and push you to be your best… and that’s not the same person for everyone. Some people need an empathetic touch; others need a drill sergeant. That’s why we think it’s so important for you to get to know our guys before you get to work.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Admissionado MBA Admissions Consultant Stefanie Barlow.

So Stefanie, where are you living these days?
Brooklyn, NY

And your MBA is from…
NYU Stern

Why did you go for an MBA?
I applied to b-school straight out of undergrad with a Spanish major. Having skipped a grade, I am still the youngest applicant I’ve ever seen and didn’t have as much direction as the candidates with whom I work now! I hoped the MBA would help me achieve my goal of eventually securing a Marketing Director position at a media company. While I made a pitstop in finance, I eventually achieved my goal at Viacom.

What’s your all-time favorite memory from business school?
Glen-Tuck – the scotch club that used to meet every Wednesday each week. Many other memories are there too, but this space is too little to account for all of them 🙂

What do you like most about being an MBA consultant?
Stern has a robust exchange program, which is one of the reasons I applied. I wasn’t able to study abroad during undergrad, and with a Spanish major, I regretted that I didn’t have the opportunity to practice in a Spanish-speaking country. This time, I was determined to take advantage and chose to spend a semester at ESADE in Barcelona. Studying on the beach, traveling around Europe with friends, and working at the local branch of Dale Carnegie, my pre-MBA employer, made the experience extremely fulfilling.

What’s the COOLEST place you’ve ever been?
I’d have to go with Morocco. It’s the only place I have been with such rich history AND camel rides. If you haven’t done it, camels are a lot taller than you would think!

Tell us something surprising about you.
I don’t hold a pen properly. I rest it on the fourth finger and always have.

Two truths and a lie.
I am a native New Yorker.
I love roller coasters.
I am double-jointed.
