Melody Lin

From Wall Street to Fifth Avenue, from sunny Cali to the Big Apple, Melody was once a technology investment banker in San Francisco who turned finance and strategy professional at a global cosmetics company in New York City.

Melody received her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from UC Berkeley and worked in investment banking after college. Although she became an Excel whiz in banking, she realized that her true calling lies in consumer-centric industries, so she went back to school and earned her MBA from The Wharton School, where she double majored in Management and Marketing. Since then, she has worked in strategic planning, corporate finance, and digital analytics across media & entertainment and CPG companies such as Comcast and L'Oréal. She has lived in eight cities across three continents and now resides in New York City. Melody is dedicated to leveraging her diverse background and knack for storytelling to provide incisive strategy that will enable your profile to shine through the rest of the applicant pool.

In her spare time, she is either planning her next trip (avid traveler who’s been to 25+ countries and counting), trying various restaurants and cuisines, or blogging about awesome fashion and beauty finds.

What's the COOLEST place you've ever visited? Why was it so cool?

Petra, Jordan. Indiana Jones - need I say more? :)

Why did you go for an MBA? And how did your experience at school play into that? Did it solve it for you, or spin you in a different direction?

I wanted to explore different career options and expand my network. In B-school, I met inspiring people of drastically different backgrounds from all over the world and learned about various career paths available post school. B-school helped me get into an industry that I'm passionate about which also gave me the chance to live in one of my favorite cities - the Big Apple!

Dinosaur, alien and robot: If you could adopt one of them, which would you choose and why?

Robot. I'll program it in a way to help me do my chores :)
