Kimberley Nixon

Kim is a strategist with experience across several industries ranging from banking to retail.

She attended NYU Stern, where she focused on real estate, strategy and finance. She interned with the World Trade Center developers (Silverstein Properties) and, after business school, went on to become a Strategy & Operations consultant at Deloitte Consulting for several years before leaving the firm and making the switch to the Consumer Goods & Retail industry.

Kim is that odd person who actually enjoys writing papers. As a writing tutor during her undergraduate studies at Wesleyan University, she most enjoyed that moment when a writer transformed the disparate information in his head into a cohesive story. It was like magic. She looks forward to creating that same magic with your personal statements.

Aside from writing and strategy advice, talk to Kim if you want to discuss anything about bacon, Brooklyn, or babies.

What’s the coolest place you’ve ever been to?

Egypt. It is amazing to think about the math/science, the sheer human power, and insane amount of time and energy that went into building the pyramids. Gives you a little perspective when you complain about how hard something is. Plus I got to ride a camel.

Tell us two truths and a lie about yourself.

1. I've hugged a tiger. 2. I hang drywall occasionally. 3. I'm a 6 time marathoner.

What's the best thing about being an MBA consultant?

I like hearing people's stories. It's a great way to learn about what is happening in industries I am unfamiliar with, and it's always exciting to help people make the link between their personal path and their professional one.
